Our Services

  • Everyday Technology Access

Whether you or a loved one faces challenges with accessing their everyday technology (cell phone, tablet, computer, etc), we provide one-on-one services to assess areas of difficulty and to determine methods to maximize independence and reduce frustration with technology use.  From our assessment we can then work with existing technology or provide recommendations for different technology to optimize access.  We can provide resources and recommendations for technology procurement, assistance for set up of technology including customizations specific to the individual, and training to achieve mastery.

  • Technology Access for Individuals With Neurological Diseases

Thrive has expertise in achieving creative and customized technology access solutions for people with neurological diseases (MS, Parkinson’s etc).  We will complete an assessment to determine the most significant areas of difficulty with technology access related to disease symptoms and with consideration for disease progression.  From there we will provide services targeting modifications to technology, capitalizing on built-in software accessibility features, and/or trialing alternative access methods for technology operation (voice control, switch control, eye gaze technology, etc).

  • Home Automation Services

The emergence and evolution of smart technology offers incredible and underutilized potential in promoting safe and independent living for people to age in place and/or for people with disabilities.  Home modifications incorporating smart technology allow people to complete daily living tasks with increased safety and independence levels.  Automating home management promotes energy conservation, fatigue management, reduces fall risk, and supports living and aging in place.  We work with you to determine home automation needs and preferences, provide information on recommended technology and offer assistance with technology procurement, assistance with device set up, and training on how to use technology to automate your daily routines.

What to Expect

1

Phone Consultation

Begin with a free 15-minute discovery call during which we will review any pertinent medical history and discuss your goals in order to determine if our services will be a good fit for you.

2

Assessment

If we determine that our services are indicated, we will move forward with a formal assessment.  This assessment typically occurs in the home, however virtual services are available upon request.  We will complete a detailed assessment during which we will more thoroughly review medical history, areas of concern and challenges, and create concrete, measurable goals that will guide our plan of care.  We will observe how you function with your technology and/or within your home to inform decision making on next steps.

3

Follow Up

Following the evaluation, we will review findings and recommendations.  If adaptive equipment or technology is recommended, we will assist you with procurement of devices per client preference or provide resources for clients to procure items on their own.  If pursuing accessible home design, we will provide a report with recommendations.

4

Set up and Training

Assistance will be provided for set up of any technology as needed, including device customizations to tailor it for client’s specific needs.  Following set up, training will be provided on how to operate devices.  Often multiple sessions are required for customizations and training in order to promote mastery and adoption of technology.  The number of sessions recommended will vary depending on the scope of our plan of care and if specialty assistive technology is required.  Apart from training on how to operate devices, we will also provide training on general troubleshooting related to your specific technology in order to enhance continuity of use.  If pursuing accessible home design goals, we can work with you and/or your contractor to implement desired recommendations.
